The Rock Island-Milan School District will be hosting a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday, November 5, 3:00 p.m., at Edison Junior High School (4141 9th Street) to celebrate the completion of the renovation project that includes a new main office and library configuration and new secure entryway with accessible ramp at the front entrance.

The total cost of the project was $805,606. The school district used the Rock Island County 1% Sales Tax revenue to complete the construction project.

Edison Junior High, built in 1925, is one of the oldest school buildings in the district. The building has been through two major renovations, one in 1956 and then again in 1970.

Why: To celebrate the renovation project and let people tour the new section. Superintendent Dr. Lawrence will say a few words and light refreshments will be served.
