The 7th-grade AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination) class toured the campus of Black Hawk College.
Part of the AVID curriculum is exposing students to college campuses and getting them to think about college.
Students got to listen to a presentation about the cost, housing available, and why community college is a better fit for some students than a traditional four-year college. Students also learned about sports and clubs that are available, as well as dual- credit opportunities at Black Hawk College.
Students got to tour various buildings and see different types of classrooms, (hands-on learning vs. traditional rooms).
They also had the opportunity to meet the team who would help them find internships or jobs in a related field of study!
