Principal's Message

Welcome to Edison Junior High School. Home of the Eagles!  EJHS is part of Rock Island-Milan School District 41 and is one of two junior high schools serving District 41.

Edison is home to approximately 400 students, grades 7 & 8.  Edison offers a wide variety of academic programs for our students from support (Title, EL services, Special Education, Counseling, Edison Plus, Lights on For Learning, etc.) to enrichment opportunities (Project Lead The Way, AVID, Publications, Leadership Squad, Athletics, Robotics Club, Band/Orchestra, Morning PE, etc.) designed to maximize each student’s individual potential.

Edison Jr. High offers a variety of electives with students able to take up to 8 courses over the course of their 2 years in junior high school. Edison is an AVID school (Advancement Via Individual Determination) which is currently sponsored by John Deere. Although all students are not enrolled in AVID, we use many AVID strategies throughout all classrooms. Some of the strategies include focused note-taking, Philosophical Chairs, Socratic Seminars, a binder and locker system for organization, among others. Through all of our electives, we work to help our students identify what they are passionate about, what their goals are, and we help them develop plans to meet those goals.  All students at EJHS are expected to both lead and learn.

Rock Island-Milan School District 41’s purpose is “To educate for individual student success”.  Our focus is meeting the needs of each child academically and emotionally through all of the opportunities that we offer.  Our priorities at Edison Junior High and in District 41 are to: 1) Increase student achievement; 2) Build respectful relationships; and 3) Improve operations.  All of our focus is centered on these three priorities.
